🧠 Two High School Students Raise $12.5M for Their AI Brain Analysis Tool

Two high school students, Rohan Kalahasty (18) and Sai Mattapalli (17) have created a startup called Vytal.ai that aims to revolutionize the way doctors detect cognitive decline in older adults.

Unlike expensive eye-tracking technologies, Vytal uses a laptop or smartphone camera to perform rapid eye-tracking and biometric calculations from the comfort of one's home.

The founders, driven by a desire to help the elderly, have gathered extensive research experience at top-level institutions and are focused on empowering people with early detection of conditions like Alzheimer's.

While the technology is still in its early stages, it has the potential to fill a gap in early screening and detection of Alzheimer's disease. The founders emphasize that Vytal is not meant to replace doctors but rather provide additional data points to aid in diagnosis. (Read More)

Healthcare institutions are now using AI to speed up the health insurance process.

At Humana, customer-service agents use an AI tool called Automation Co-Pilot to retrieve insurance and other information for customers. The tool can determine if a procedure is covered within minutes, reducing the need for human decision-making.

Automating administrative processes has saved Humana 684,000 hours per year. However, AI implementation in healthcare is cautious due to concerns about accuracy and privacy.

Government-administered health insurance has also used AI to automate processes, such as enrolling newborns for Medicaid coverage. AI tools are also being used by doctors to simplify paperwork and document patient interactions.
