🔬 Microsoft Partners With Paige to Revolutionize Cancer Screening

Microsoft is partnering with Paige to create a large AI model for cancer identification.

The model is trained on billions of images and can identify both common and rare cancers. The goal is to assist doctors dealing with staffing shortages and growing caseloads.

Paige develops digital solutions for pathologists, who play a crucial role in diagnosing cancer. The company has digitized the pathologists' workflow and received FDA approval for its viewing tool FullFocus.

However, digitizing pathology slides is costly, and Paige has turned to Microsoft for help. Using Microsoft's cloud storage and infrastructure, Paige has built an advanced AI model that is training on 4 million slides. The model is the largest computer vision model publicly announced and aims to revolutionize cancer care.

Microsoft's infrastructure and algorithms are key components of the partnership, but the technology is meant to enhance pathologists' work, not replace them. Paige and Microsoft will publish a paper on the model, with plans to submit it to the scientific journal Nature. (Read More)

📺 YouTube Rolls Out An AI-Powered Language Tool For Health Content Creators

A new program from YouTube is a healthcare-focused pilot of Aloud, an early-access AI tool developed by Google that helps users dub their videos into different languages.

Mass General Brigham, the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), Elsevier’s Osmosis visual learning platform and the Global Health Media Project will each help YouTube fine-tune the tool by creating and releasing new health education videos for Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking communities.

This initiative reflects YouTube’s goal of leveraging cultural representation and targeted messaging to address issues of health disparities, as stated by the team. (Read More)
