A recent study from Emory University shows the proficiency of ChatGPT in online symptom checking is an improvement over using a Google search or other online symptom checkers.

While chatbot-delivered medical information may be more accurate than searching online, there are concerns about how to incorporate this technology into healthcare systems with proper safeguards.

Many doctors believe AI-based medical tools should undergo an approval process similar to the FDA's regime for drugs, but this is still years away.

The Emory study confirms the accuracy of AI chatbots, along with other studies. Another study has shown that AI may have better bedside manner than some human doctors as well. (Read More)

🤖 Google is Working with the Government to Develop AI Microscopes

Google and the U.S. Department of Defense are working on an AI-powered microscope to detect Cancer.

The technology, called an Augmented Reality Microscope (ARM), is still in its early stages but shows promise in assisting pathologists without easy access to a second opinion.

There are currently 13 ARMs in existence, with one located at a Mitre facility near Washington, D.C. The ARM is designed to seamlessly integrate into pathologists' workflow and can help bypass the need for expensive digital pathology systems.

The cost of an ARM for health systems is around $90,000 to $100,000. (Read More)
