🔬 AI Speeds Science Research

Today we review how AI is speeding research scientists work in developing new life-saving therapeutics

Happy Tuesday!

Thanks to help from AI, research scientists are making huge leaps in scientific discoveries. For example… a solution to finally prevent you from dying from a snake bite.

Let’s Review 👇

Prior to AI, it would take many years to develop a new life-saving therapeutic… now it only takes months.

Susana Vazquez-Torres, a fourth-year graduate student at the University of Washington, is using AI to invent new therapeutics for neglected health issues, specifically snake bites. Current snake bite therapeutics are unsafe and expensive, but AI has already helped Torres identify potential drugs in a few months.

AI has the potential to revolutionize the sciences, allowing researchers to tackle problems like disease and climate change more systematically. AI can collaborate with humans to plan and execute experiments due to a shortage of human resources.

At the University of Washington, Vazquez-Torres is one of 200 scientists working in a laboratory to design new therapies using proteins. Proteins are molecules that perform various biological functions, and they are made up of amino acids.

In the past, researchers had to test thousands of possible designs to find the right one, but AI has changed that by allowing them to build a perfect fit from scratch. (Read More)
