🔬 AI Identifies Potential Compounds in Olive Oil for the Treatment of Alzheimer’s

In a recent study, researchers have identified chemical compounds in extra virgin olive oil that have the potential to prevent and treat Alzheimer’s disease.

Using network machine learning algorithms, the research team identified ten phytochemicals that act similarly to known pharmaceutical agents against plaque buildup in the brain, a characteristic of Alzheimer’s disease.

The study combines artificial intelligence, analytical chemistry, and omics studies to explore the role of extra virgin olive oil in the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.

The researchers found that quercetin, one of the identified phytochemicals, had the highest likelihood of acting similarly to current Alzheimer’s medications.

Further studies are needed to validate the findings and explore the potential of other extra virgin olive oil compounds in treating other diseases. (Read More)

📑 More Companies Join the Pledge for Safe AI

Several major tech companies, including Adobe, IBM, and Nvidia, have made commitments to the White House to develop safe and trustworthy AI.

Other companies that have made similar commitments include Cohere, Palantir, Salesforce, Scale AI, and Stability AI. The agreements are voluntary, so there are no penalties if the companies fail to follow through.

The companies have agreed to conduct internal and external testing of AI systems, invest in safeguards, and share information to manage risks. They also agree to allow third-party reporting of vulnerabilities, publicly report risks, and develop AI systems to address societal challenges.

The White House has been focused on AI and has released an AI Bill of Rights and directed the National Science Foundation to establish new National AI Research Institutes.

However, legislation around AI is still being discussed, and regulations governing AI, particularly generative AI, are yet to be finalized. (Read More)
