🔬 AI Discovery Builds Bone
Today we review research from Peking University that has used a malaria drug to build back bone in mice

Happy Wednesday!
AI has unconventionally helped researchers make a new discovery to help combat osteoporosis… thanks to a malaria drug healthy bones could soon be on the way!
Let’s Review 👇

In a study made possible with the help of AI, a malaria drug dihydroartemisinin (DHA), has been found to reverse bone loss in mice with osteoporosis.
Researchers from Peking University International Cancer Institute used AI to discover that DHA reduced bone loss and preserved bone structure in mouse models.
The drug, derived from the sweet wormwood plant, was administered orally to the mice for six weeks and then injected into nanoparticles called MSN-ALN for eight weeks. The treatment improved bone quality and showed no signs of toxicity.
This study follows another recent discovery of a bone drug called BP-NELL-PEG that protected mice from bone loss in microgravity which could also help astronauts in the future. (Read More)
